Show report from Paris
SILMO Paris is the international trade fair for the optics and eyewear industry, held annually at the Paris Nord Villepinte Convention Center. As one of the leading trade fairs in the optometry industry, SILMO is always a date in the diary for the Kathryn Anthony Optometry team to attend and for 2025, our practice manager Kate and optical assistant Kasia were delighted to attend the show.
The key draw of SILMO is to discover the latest state of the art technology, assess upcoming trends and frame ranges, and talk 1-on-1 with designers and industry experts. At the heart of Kathryn Antnony Optometry lies our passion to deliver the very best and latest equipment to our patients. With cutting edge technology such as Optomap retinal scans now a key fixture in of our advanced eye examinations, we’re always looking for that next technological advancement that will add even more value to the KA customer experience.
This year was Kasia’s first experience of SILMO. As a key member of the team, you’ll most likely be greeted by Kasia the next time you visit our practice on 16 Pierrepont Street, Bath, and now as an optical assistant, it was great for her to see first-person what SILMO is all about. Kasia noted,
“It was my first optical show, so I was blown away by the volume and how much thought all the brands had put into the design of their stands and marketing. We spent two full days at Silmo, looking for new solutions for our patients, how can we elevate their experience with us, and which new ranges we could bring to KA that would further broaden the styles we offer.
We also made sure to say hi to our current suppliers, a lot of whom had released limited SILMO editions of their frames, including Tom Davies who we currently stock. Meeting Tom Davies himself was such an interesting part of our day, he is an incredibly inspirational designer and his charisma and love for the optical industry is undeniable. Fingers crossed we’ll be able to go to his London factory in the future to learn even more about his designs and bespoke frames for our patients. After a jam packed 2-days, we came back inspired with so many fresh ideas and the whole team at KA are excited to soon be able to unveil the new exciting ranges hitting our shelves. Keep your eyes peeled!”
