MOSCOT – 110 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
In the eyewear world, there’s not many bigger names than Moscot – a brand established in 1915 and now celebrating their 110th anniversary.
As a Bath optician proudly stocking Moscot, we recently covered our top 3 selling Moscot glasses and today we join with Moscot in celebrating their incredible rise from a local New York store to a globally renowned glasses brand. Moscot’s 1 minute video featuring Zack and Harvey Moscot provides a brief history of the brand and is well worth a quick look.
To celebrate their history, Moscot created a groundbreaking set of AI images in collaboration with fine art photographer Julien Roubinet – a project particularly loved and admired by our own photographer and optician shop designer Philip Field. Using cutting-edge AI (artificial intelligence), Roubinet created a set of model-based images for each decade of Moscot’s history. In each, he used AI to create the essence, style and specific look from each era. However, these AI images didn’t contain glasses, and so Roubinet then photographed 12 of Moscot’s most iconic frames on mannequin heads in the exact angles and lighting to match the AI images. Finally, he digitally edited the glasses onto the AI generate models. The result is a remarkable set of photographs/artworks that truly honour Moscot’s heritage as well as highlighting their forward thinking flair for design and timeless aesthetic.
