Eye Examinations
Back Print Page Email Page

Most people are familiar with the routine parts of an eye test – checking your vision and prescription using a letter chart for example.  But many of our clients are surprised at the more advanced techniques and equipment we employ to examine the health of their eyes.

At Kathryn Anthony Opticians we are committed to offering the highest standards of eye care and have invested in state of the art technology and extended examination times that allow us to deliver this.

“Everyone knows prevention is better than cure.  What most people don’t realize is the important role that Optometrist’s play in monitoring your overall health.”
Kathryn Anthony

Technology has advanced faster that the NHS can deliver.  One major breakthrough is the development of high-resolution digital photography.  The eye is a complex structure which is difficult to analyse and even harder to document findings.  Retinal Imaging is a specialized form of digital photography which records precise detail of the structure and health of your eyes for future comparison.  Therefore we can now identify even the most subtle changes in eye detail over time.  Retinal image analysis is carried out as standard on all private patients over 30 years old and is strongly recommended as a £14 supplement for those eligible for an NHS examination.

Childrens Examinations
Many parents these days seem unaware of the importance of regular eye examinations for their children.  Although most childrens’ eyes develop normally – many can develop complications during this rapid phase of growth and development.  Short-sightedness is by far the most common complication.  However, using advanced measurements – it is now possible to identify many of those children who are likely to become short-sighted before it happens.  And in some cases it is possible to delay the onset of this condition or even reduce the extent to which it develops”
